Dr. Lisa Bye is a passionate and empathetic therapist who specializes in working with children and their families. She works to create a safe and comfortable environment to help children give voice to areas where they may be struggling. She has worked in school systems as a school counselor, classroom instructor, and a school-based therapist. She understands many of the legalities surrounding 504 and IEP plans and can help guide parents in advocating for their child.  Bye has also worked for CASA as a court appointed special advocate with children who have been removed from their homes, with the American Red Cross on the National Disaster Mental Health Team and has responded to national disasters to help with the mental health needs of victims.

Having been trained in Synergetic Play Therapy, Bye uses child centered play in her work with children to help them express and navigate the demands of their environment to gain a better sense of stability, safety, happiness, and overall well being. She often incorporates play therapy, solution-focused therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy in her practice with children and families.

Dr. Bye has developed a family group program designed for anyone who is a parent – whether your children are newborn to 18. The program is designed around the principles learned in Dan Siegel’s book, “The Whole Brain Child”, in addition to her experience raising 3 children together with her husband.

Bye works with issues related to childhood adjustment, trauma, grief & loss, divorce, adoption, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, and anger.
