Our Services
Helping Little Hearts Child & Family Therapy offers a variety of services for mental health care and help empower those in need to live happy, healthy, and productive lives
Diagnostic Evaluation
This is the initial intake session to begin individual therapy. This session is typically 50 minutes long. This is the chance for you and your therapist to get to know each other and ensure this is the right fit. You will be asked about what is bringing you into therapy, your goals, symptoms, and history. This is also a time for you to ask any questions that you may have about therapy before committing to additional sessions.
Depending on the age of the client and the reason for seeking therapy, the initial intake session may include the parent/guardian and the minor client, just the client, or just the parent/guardian. Please have a list of previous diagnoses, current medications, and previous mental health providers ready. If you have mental health or medical records, please bring those in.
After an initial assessment, treatment planning and programming will be tailored to fit each individual’s specific needs, and may include a parent component to help reinforce skills and strategies taught.
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy sessions are offered for children, teens, and young adults. We offer a variety of therapeutic approaches to best suit the needs of each individual. We recognize that each person is unique, and treatment should always be personalized and adjusted to meet them where they are.

Play Therapy
Play is a child’s natural means of communication. Play therapy is a dynamic interpersonal relationship between a child and a therapist trained in play therapy practice. In the context of a safe relationship, a play therapist sets the stage for children to fully express and explore their sense of self (feelings, thoughts, experiences, and behaviors). Through therapeutic play, children are able to work towards optimal growth, development and healing. Play allows us access to the inner world of children, which helps facilitate better understanding and ways to best support their needs.
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a method of psychotherapy that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma and other chronically experienced stressors. EMDR is a set of standardized protocols that incorporates elements from many different treatment approaches. EMDR does not require someone to share details of their trauma or experience.
EMDR has been used effectively to treatment many issues including:
- Trauma (including both Post-Traumatic and Acute Stress Disorder)
- Upsetting childhood events which have caused low self-esteem or confidence problems
- Anxiety/Phobias/OCD
- Grief/Loss
- Depression
- Addictive Behaviors
- Performance Anxiety
- Stress Reduction
Parent Education
Parental education can be useful for any parent or caregiver who needs support navigating their child’s unique needs. This can help with common behavior issues, learning issues (ADHD, Sensory Disorders, etc.), and emotional regulation. It can also help foster effective communication between the parent and child and nurture and strengthen the parent-child connection. We want to be able to teach you to provide support and understanding for your child’s unique needs and improve overall family functioning.
Assisting parents in identifying and implementing practical strategies that support the unique developmental needs of their child while offering emotional support and coping strategies to parents is our goal in helping you feel supported and gain confidence in their parenting skills!
